About The Role
The Assistant Finance Business Partner (AFBP) will provide accurate and timely financial information. They will support the Business Unit General Manager (BUGM) to assist with the effective running of the business unit (BU). They are required to build and maintain strong collaborative relationships with operational and other finance/administrative staff within their BU. They will possess excellent communication skills, both written and oral, have strong commercial awareness, and be able to work in a fast-paced environment.

Key Objectives
* Provide support for the financial control of the entire BU
* Advise and support the BUGM and operational staff by providing and interpreting analytical information to enable effective decision making
* Support in ensuring the rules, principles, and internal control requirements of the Group are met
* Ensure the BU and Company meet all financial reporting obligations
Main Responsibilities
Financial Planning & Analysis
* Regular analysis of KPIs such as invoice lag, debtors, variances, and productive hours
* Analyse and explain overhead spend and variances to budget
* Provide analysis to forecast business performance against budget to aid decision making
* Support the BUGM in obtaining market intelligence for strategy and budget formulation
Project Accounting and Monitoring
* Ensure sales and purchase ledger entries are accurate and timely
* Ensure employee timesheets are entered accurately and promptly
* Support Project Managers in understanding their projects
* Coach/train Project Managers on Project Accounting Systems
* Perform monthly project reviews with the BUGM
* Maintain effective contract records
Cash Management
* Evaluate the creditworthiness of clients
* Maximise invoicing
* Implement effective credit control within the BU
Control and Reporting
* Ensure transactions are accurately recorded in accordance with group and accounting rules
* Support BUGM in controlling overhead spend
* Complete all reporting within set deadlines
* Assist with year-end audit processes
* Ensure compliance with internal control procedures
Administration & Other
* Lead BU administration and team activities
* Drive initiatives aligned with business strategy
* Manage and deliver financial projects that improve BU management
The Person
* AAT or equivalent qualification; working towards a professional accounting qualification is desirable

* Excellent oral and written communication skills
* Ability to translate financial data into strategic objectives
* Friendly, approachable, and relationship-oriented

* Focus on quality and accuracy in a fast-paced environment

* Knowledge of basic accounting functions and CIS/DRC (desirable)
