A Police Constable is needed to join our team in the Port of Felixstowe’s Emergency Response unit.
You will carry out the operational requirements of port policing and security strategy inside the dock estate, as well as any necessary emergency or contingency response needs, under the direct supervision of a police sergeant.
No prior experience in law enforcement or security is required. Successful candidates will receive comprehensive training, which will include attending and passing yearly personal safety training, passing a course on basic law, and completing a one-year probationary term.
Responsibilities:
* Maintain up-to-date knowledge of criminal law through continuous self-directed education.
* Enforce operating protocols, road safety tactics, and health and safety laws for all port users.
* Verify adherence to the ISPS Code, Port Security Regulations, and AEO standards.
* Report and investigate issues in accordance with UK law and unit policy.
* React to requests for help in a fair and professional manner.
* Always look for ways to improve working procedures to help achieve company objectives.
* Fulfil security and police responsibilities in accordance with performance criteria.
* Encourage safe work behaviours and make recommendations for ways to make policies and procedures better.
* Safeguard people, property, and goods in dock estates.
* Conduct dynamic risk assessments to guarantee health and safety while performing police duties.
Requirements:
* Completely clean driver’s license (both automatic and manual)
* Demonstrate resilience as a result of operating for extended periods of time in all weather conditions, during emergencies, and for other operational requirements.
* Ability to adjust to shifting job priorities in a demanding and stressful setting around-the-clock.
* Strong oral and written communication abilities to occasionally impose a degree of control, compromise, and guidance.
* Able to work efficiently and precisely to produce high-quality, technically and grammatically sound work on schedule.
