We are working with a well-established, multidisciplinary building services consultancy seeking an Intermediate Electrical Design Engineer to join their growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated engineer looking to further develop their technical skills while contributing to a diverse portfolio of innovative and sustainable projects. The role can be based in Leicester, Birmingham City Centre or Solihull, operating within a flexible and agile working framework.
The Role
As an Intermediate Electrical Design Engineer, you will support the delivery of high-quality electrical building services designs across a range of sectors, including healthcare, education, residential, commercial and industrial. You will be involved at all stages of projects, from concept through to completion, working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary environment while continuing to build your professional experience.
Key Responsibilities
* Contribute to a wide variety of technically challenging projects
* Participate in all project stages, from initial design through to final delivery
* Produce drawings, specifications and technical documentation
* Carry out electrical design calculations using both manual and software-based methods
* Monitor your own work to ensure delivery aligns with programme, quality and budget requirements
* Liaise with other design disciplines to understand client requirements and assist in selecting appropriate solutions and equipment
* Support technical coordination across multiple disciplines
* Attend and represent the business at selected project meetings
* Incorporate sustainability principles and low/zero carbon technologies into designs
* Undertake site visits and review contractor installations to ensure compliance with design intent
* Engage in Continued Professional Development (CPD) to remain current with industry standards and emerging technologies
* Develop a broader understanding of mechanical systems to support multidisciplinary collaboration
About You
* Degree in Electrical or Building Services Engineering (HNC/HND also considered)
* Minimum 1 year of post-qualification experience in building services design
* Experience using design software such as Microsoft Office, Relux/Dialux, Amtech and Revit
* Knowledge of British and European Standards and Building Regulations
* Awareness of HTMs (desirable but not essential)
* Working towards or holding professional membership (CIBSE, IET or similar)
* Understanding of renewable technologies and sustainable design integration
* Working knowledge of BREEAM
* Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively within a team
* Proactive, organised and eager to develop professionally
