Purpose of the Role:
As a Buyer for PMC based at our site in Luton, you would be responsible for purchasing the best quality materials and services for the company at the most competitive prices along with ensuring their on-time delivery. This role reports directly to the Operations Director and is expected to work closely with all departments but specifically the production, planning & warehouse teams.
Responsibilities:
1. Purchase all materials and services in line with the sales planning process
2. Identify safety stock, strategic plan for long LT & PMC specific items & maintain optimum stock levels
3. Negotiate terms and conditions of supply as required including for price increases
4. Source new suitable suppliers for existing and new materials
5. Enhance the purchasing function and look for ways to continuously improve its operation.
6. Work with production/engineering to identify make or buy possibilities with cost/benefit in mind
7. Control an agreed monthly budget on purchases against production schedule value
8. Ensure that all purchase orders are delivered on time
9. Produce the monthly cashflow report
10. Liaise with other departments to advise any changes to the schedule
