The school supports children and young people with a range of additional needs, with a particular focus on Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), communication and interaction needs, and associated behavioural challenges. Key Responsibilities
- Provide tailored 1:1 and small-group support for pupils with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC).
- Support pupils' communication, social interaction, emotional regulation, and academic development.
- Implement personalised learning strategies in line with EHCP targets and individual support plans.
- Use effective communication approaches, including visual supports, PECS, Makaton, AAC, and social stories where appropriate.
- Apply positive behaviour management strategies to support pupils with challenging behaviours and promote positive outcomes.
- Foster positive relationships with pupils, helping to develop confidence, independence, and self-esteem.
- Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, therapists, and parents/carers to ensure a consistent approach to support.
- Monitor and record pupil progress, behaviour, and wellbeing, providing feedback to the wider school team.

Qualifications and Experience
- SEMH, ASC, Complex needs, Calm, Resilient, Proactive, Emotional regulation, PECs, Makaton, BSL, AAC, MAPA, Team‑Teach, Level 2 TA, Level 2 Teaching Assistant, Level 3 TA, Level 3 Teaching Assistant, Have previous experience working as a SEN Teaching Assistant or Support Worker with children or young people with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC).
- Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with pupils, colleagues, and families.
- Have experience implementing effective behaviour management and de‑escalation strategies.
- Be patient, empathetic, resilient, and adaptable when supporting pupils with complex needs.
- Have a sound understanding of autism and how it can impact learning, communication, and behaviour.
- Be confident supporting pupils with emotional regulation and social communication difficulties.
- Have the right to work in the UK and be available full‑time.
Desirable Qualifications and Training
- Level 2 or Level 3 Supporting Teaching and Learning qualification.
- PECS, Makaton, AAC, or Autism‑specific training.
- Team Teach, MAPA, or equivalent positive behaviour support training.
- Experience working within specialist SEN provisions or resource bases.
