Theatre Practitioner – Orthopaedic Scrub

37.5 Hours | Permanent
Salary: Up to £40,000 per year (dependent on experience, training, and qualifications)
Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Theatre Practitioner specialising in Orthopaedic Scrub to join a busy and supportive surgical team. This role focuses on delivering high-quality perioperative care within orthopaedic procedures, ensuring patient safety and clinical excellence at all times.
Key Responsibilities
* Act as Scrub Practitioner for a range of orthopaedic procedures, ensuring instruments and equipment are prepared and available
* Maintain a sterile field and adhere to strict infection prevention and control standards
* Anticipate the needs of the surgeon and surgical team throughout procedures
* Ensure all orthopaedic instrumentation and implants are checked, prepared, and used appropriately
* Support safe and effective theatre set-up according to specific orthopaedic procedures and patient needs
* Work collaboratively with the wider multidisciplinary team to ensure efficient theatre lists
* Monitor and maintain equipment safety, reporting any faults promptly
* Contribute to a positive, professional, and patient-focused theatre environment
Requirements
* Registered Nurse (NMC) or Operating Department Practitioner (HCPC)
* Minimum of 1 year’s experience within orthopaedics across scrub, anaesthetics, or recovery
* Experience or confidence in working as a Scrub Practitioner (orthopaedics preferred)
* Strong knowledge of orthopaedic procedures, instrumentation, and implants
* Sound understanding of infection control, patient safety, and perioperative best practice
* Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment
* Excellent communication and teamwork skills
* High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and commitment to delivering safe surgical care
Working Pattern
* The hospital is closed on Sundays
* Flexible working arrangements can be discussed at interview
