Role Overview
As a developing highway engineer with Transport for London, you will contribute to both the maintenance of legacy assets and the delivery of new projects and programmes. Your responsibilities include designing, investigating, and delivering highway works – from pavement design to aggregate specification – while ensuring safety, environmental stewardship, and inclusive design principles are met.
Your Skills and Experience
* Experience in pavement investigations and design, including footway and carriageway renewal schemes (Desirable)
* Understanding of Health & Safety and CDM regulations (Essential)
* Awareness of environmental implications of design decisions (Essential)
* Interest in the principles of Inclusive Design (Desirable)
* Experience developing feasibility, concept, and detailed design solutions for highways and traffic engineering problems (Desirable)
* Experience in highway geometric design and deviations from standard processes (Desirable)
* Knowledge of road markings and traffic sign design per Traffic Signs Manuals and TSRGD 2016 (Desirable)
* Experience in junction improvement, urban realm/street‑cape improvement, safety improvement schemes, cycling design, and bus priority schemes (Desirable)
* Construction site experience and buildability awareness (Desirable)
* Awareness of intrusive and non‑intrusive surveys related to highway engineering (Desirable)
