Salary: £27,600 – £46,500 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience.
Purpose of the Role
We are recruiting a Journalist who will play a crucial role across Isle of Man output. You will work on original and forward‑planning stories, speaking to communities to highlight issues reflected in BBC output.
Key Responsibilities
* Use video, audio, and digital equipment and IT to research, write, assemble, edit and deliver outputs in appropriate media to the highest professional standards.
* Present content on radio, TV or online, live or recorded as required.
* Tailor news treatments for different audiences, ensuring output reflects those audiences.
* Deliver outputs to tight deadlines while maintaining the highest editorial standards.
* Liaise closely with team members and other BBC departments to share material, avoid duplication and uphold best practice.
* Prioritise and plan activities considering deadlines, staffing and available resources.
Skills and Experience
* Significant recent experience as a journalist with knowledge of production techniques.
* Sound editorial and policy decisions based on understanding of BBC’s news agenda and audience.
* Ability to write creatively in an engaging manner, adapt, produce and translate accurately for multiple media.
* Flexibility and adaptability to sustain performance under pressure and changing priorities.
* Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with a range of people.
