Overview
Adept Resourcing are working with a Sheffield-based engineering company to recruit a Junior CAD/CAM / Technical Administrator.
This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual with good maths skills and a practical mindset to build a career in a technical and engineering focused environment.
The role has a strong emphasis on technical administration and estimating support, handling much of the leg work involved in preparing accurate quotations, gathering data, and supporting production documentation. Over time, the successful candidate will gain exposure to CAD/CAM systems, developing the skills to progress into a more technical role.
We're looking for someone organised, hands on, and customer focused, with the confidence to communicate clearly and the drive to learn and develop within the team.
Key Responsibilities
Carry out the technical leg work to support estimating and production planning collecting data, checking drawings, compiling material and process costs, and maintaining accurate records.
Assist in the preparation of quotes and cost breakdowns, ensuring all required information is complete and accurate.
Provide day to day administrative and technical support to the engineering and CAD/CAM teams, including managing documentation, drawings, and project files.
Liaise with customers, suppliers, and internal departments to obtain pricing, lead times, and technical details.
Support CAD/CAM engineers by assisting with drawing updates, data input, and model preparation for production.
Maintain document control and job tracking systems, ensuring that all project data is organised and up to date.
Take calls, respond to customer queries, and ensure excellent communication and follow up.
Learn and develop skills in CAD/CAM software and manufacturing processes, working towards a more technical engineering role as experience grows.
About You
Strong mathematical and analytical skills, with good attention to detail.
Organised and methodical, with the ability to manage multiple technical tasks.
A practical, proactive attitude and willingness to get stuck in.
Good communication and interpersonal skills, confident dealing with customers and colleagues.
Competent in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
Interest or basic experience in CAD/CAM software (e.g. AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Fusion 360) or manufacturing processes would be an advantage.
