Engineering Shift Leader - Food Manufacturing Location: Poole Salary: £57,523 Shift Pattern: Panama (12-hour days, average of 3-4 shifts/week) Are you a proactive, hands-on engineering professional with strong leadership skills and a passion for continuous improvement? We're looking for an Engineering Shift Leader to take ownership of equipment performance, team development, and reliability within a busy, fast-paced food manufacturing environment. You'll lead a skilled team of engineers focused on minimising downtime, enhancing operational efficiency, and maintaining the highest standards of food safety and compliance. Key Responsibilities Lead day-to-day engineering operations across a high-volume production site. Ensure strict adherence to health, safety, and food safety standards. Drive proactive maintenance, rapid response to breakdowns, and effective handovers. Support and coach engineers in both technical tasks and personal development. Maintain accurate records within a CMMS system. Collaborate closely with Production to improve line performance and reduce waste. Participate in continuous improvement and project activities. What You'll Need Time-served apprenticeship or relevant engineering qualifications (mechanical or electrical). Strong understanding of: Pneumatics, hydraulics, inverters, PLCs, and servo systems. Maintenance best practices (preventive/predictive). Food safety and quality standards in an FMCG or similar setting. Leadership experience in a manufacturing environment. Clear communication and the ability to manage and motivate a small team. High standards of personal accountability and problem-solving initiative.
