About the role
We're now seeking a dynamic People Business Partner to join our prestigious Central Government business unit, partnering with the UK Government's largest security guarding workforce at the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP). This is a unique opportunity to influence and embed people strategy across a workforce of over 3,000 colleagues, while leveraging your expertise in trade union relations and strategic HR leadership.

You'll lead a team of trainers, champion talent development, and collaborate closely with operational leadership and recognised Trade Unions to ensure our people strategy delivers real impact. You'll work hand-in-hand with unions to achieve the best outcomes for colleagues and the business alike.
Key Responsibilities
* Translate business priorities into strategic people plans aligned with Mitie's vision.
* Shape organisation design to enable high performance and future growth.
* Lead and inspire a team of L&D Training Managers to deliver impactful development programmes.
* Partner with senior leaders, providing strategic insight and constructive challenge.
* Act as a role model for Mitie's values, representing HR at leadership level.
* Coach leaders on talent management, cultural change, and employee engagement.
* Empower managers to take ownership of HR responsibilities at the frontline.
* Coordinate expertise across the wider HR team to deliver tailored solutions.
* Drive transformation by embedding high-performance ways of working.
What We're Looking For
* Must have proven experience as an HRBP in a similar strategic corporate /commercial environment with strong union relations expertise. (please showcase union experience in your CV)
* A track record of partnering with senior leaders to deliver people initiatives.
* Exceptional coaching and leadership skills to inspire and develop others.
* Strong analytical ability to turn data into actionable insights.
* Excellent communication and relationship-building skills at all levels.
* Experience managing direct reports and leading teams.
* Proactive, innovative, and committed to continuous improvement.
* Flexibility to travel nationwide.
