Job Summary
This role is part of the Green Paper for Transforming children and young people's mental health programme. The post holder will work within the Harrow Mental Health Support Team delivering short‑term, evidence‑based interventions for children and young people with mild to moderate anxiety, depression and/or behavioural difficulties and for their parents/carers.
The role promotes cultural sensitivity, provides interpreters when required, and is committed to equal opportunities. The post holder will also undertake the EMHP Supervisor 1‑year training programme when it becomes available.
Key Responsibilities
* Form strong working relationships with a variety of stakeholders
* Collaborate with schools, colleges and other educational settings
* Provide training to team members and other professionals/trainees
* Supervise junior staff within the team
* Consult with education colleagues and support settings to embed a whole‑school approach to wellbeing
* Develop and deliver evidence‑based individual and group time‑limited interventions to young people within education settings in line with Children and Young People’s IAPT principles
* Hold a caseload of CYP with mild‑moderate mental health difficulties
* Conduct thorough assessments, risk assessments, care planning, and reviews
* Ensure accurate and timely documentation to a high standard and complete Routine Outcome Measures
* Provide clinical supervision to Education Mental Health Practitioners and day‑to‑day supervisory support to Trainee Education Mental Health Practitioners
* Contribute to group supervision spaces within the team
* Work as part of a senior team to support Senior Clinical Supervisors and Service Development Leads in expanding and improving the service within the Harrow area
* Support and develop interventions that can be delivered within the education setting, including SEN settings
* Appropriately raise and report safeguarding concerns and support colleagues with this process
* Join the duty rota for the service

Person Specification – Essential
* Relevant professional qualification at degree level in Mental Health Nursing, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Art Therapy, Drama Therapy, Music Therapy, LD Nursing, or substantial consolidated experience qualified as EMHP or CWP
* Additional qualifications or training in child and adolescent mental health
* Registered with a relevant professional body
* Willingness to complete EMHP Supervisor training
* Substantial consolidated experience working in child and adolescent mental health services
* Experience as a member of a multidisciplinary or multi‑agency team
* Good understanding of the range of child and adolescent mental health services, conditions, and legislation
* Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and policies
* Experience supervising or training junior employees
* Extensive experience delivering evidence‑based interventions for mild‑moderate mental health issues such as anxiety, low mood, and behavioural problems to CYP, parents/carers, and groups
* Ability to conduct mental health assessments of children and young people
* Ability to carry out 1:1 therapeutic mental health interventions with children and young people
* Ability to work within educational settings to raise mental health awareness among staff
Person Specification – Desirable
* Formal CBT training or postgraduate accredited training in CBT
* Accredited courses or workshops in CYP‑IAPT principles
* EMHP supervisor training (completed)
* Knowledge and experience in mental health promotion work
* Experience working with schools to support CYP emotional wellbeing needs
* Experience running therapy groups and/or training events
* Experience delivering evidence‑based CBT interventions to CYP and families for mild‑moderate mental health issues such as anxiety and low mood
