Immunisation Nurse (B5)

As an Immunisation Nurse within the Immunisation Specialist Nurse Team, you will support the delivery of national immunisation programmes across Cumbria. You will provide education and training to health professionals involved in immunisation of children and adults, and collaborate with the wider infection prevention and control team across the county. The role is county‑wide and involves significant travel.
Main duties
* Training of all immunisers
* Planning and delivery of Flu, COVID, BCG and complex vaccination clinics
* Timely and accurate collection and retrieval of relevant data
* Supporting a programme of audit of vaccination programme delivery and vaccine storage
* Audit of cold chain systems
* Deputising for the Specialist Nurse for Immunisation
Qualifications
* Registered nurse (NMC part 1) with previous post registration experience
* Recognised teaching qualification or equivalent experience of teaching
* Degree or currently studying for one
Knowledge and experience
* Basic understanding of the national immunisation programmes
* Basic knowledge of the seasonal flu programme
* Basic knowledge of the TB programme
* Knowledge of cold chain management
* Knowledge of current COVID vaccine programmes
* Understanding of audit processes
Skills and aptitudes
* Practical knowledge and skills in vaccination techniques
* Ability to plan and deliver own workload under supervision
* Confidence to challenge poor practice
* Good written and verbal communication skills
* Good organisational skills
* Ability to plan and work flexibly with a range of health professionals
* Ability to work in an empowering and facilitative way
* Well‑developed interpersonal skills
* Confidence in training large groups of staff
