The role
As a Multi-Skilled Operative, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. We currently have an opportunity for a Engineering Support Multi Skilled Operative to provide multi skilled support for the Fleet Engineering teams as and when directed by section Team Leaders or line management.
Day-to-day, you’ll provide support to engineering teams to enable the completion of all planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and nuclear implicated work to ensure the department meets the objectives of the business.
1. Provide support to engineering teams to enable the identification and rectification of all system, manufacture, defects and alterations to ensure the continued availability and performance Clyde HM Submarines, Surface Craft and the Estate.
2. Support pressure testing and repair of components including freeze seal operations
3. Ensure that work is carried out in line with current processes and make suggestions on improving systems and processes to increase productivity in accordance with set objectives and timescales
4. Work within all H&S legislation, Safe Systems Of Work and control of work processes within BM&T Clyde policies
Please note that this position involves manual work. This could include lifting, bending, using tools or standing for extended periods of time.
This role is full time, 36 hours per week, Monday – Thursday and is based on site at HMNB Faslane.
Essential experience of the Engineering Support Multi-Skilled Operative
5. Knowledge of Fleet Engineering activities and equipment e.g. scaffolding, FLT operations, slinging
6. Experience with Manual handling
7. Knowledge of Risk Assessments, COSHH & Safe Systems of Work
8. Must have a valid UK Driving Licence
