Overview
This is a unique opportunity to gain hands-on engineering experience on a nationally significant energy project. Over 12 months, you’ll support the technical work behind the lifetime extension of Sizewell B Power Station, helping to ensure it continues delivering low-carbon energy through to 2055.
You’ll join the team at the Joint Technical Centre based in Gloucester and work on real technical programmes that contribute directly to safety, performance, and compliance.
Key Criteria
* Studying or graduated with a bachelor’s or master’s degree (2:2 or higher) in:
* Engineering (any discipline)
* Materials Science
* Or a closely related subject
* Strong interest in large-scale engineering projects
* Organised, analytical, and eager to learn
* Must have the legal right to work in the UK (visa sponsorship not provided)
What You’ll Be Doing
Your role will contribute to extending the life of Sizewell B by supporting workstreams such as:
* Structural Integrity
* Control & Instrumentation
* Equipment Qualification
* Ageing and Obsolescence Management
You’ll gain exposure to:
* Full technical work lifecycles, from planning through to delivery
* Safety justifications and compliance activities
* Stakeholder engagement, risk management, and programme delivery
* Large-scale engineering projects with real-world impact
Location
You’ll be based at Gloucester Business Park, working within the Joint Technical Centre. There may also be opportunities to visit the Sizewell B Power Station to gain site-level exposure and meet operational colleagues.
