Job Overview
We are looking for an enthusiastic Cafe Worker to join our team based on Newport-On-Tay's high street We are a small family owned and run business. We have a deli counter stocked with cheeses and salamis, a tearoom, and a wide range of pantry goodies We serve bagels, ciabattas, and charcuterie boards amongst other things. Catering to both take-away and sit-in customers, with delicious Italian roast coffee and fun drinks.
Our ideal candidate would be one with barista experience, although that isn't necessary and we will provide on the job training, food handling experience, a bright attitude and a willingness to help better their skills and the business
Currently, the shifts that you would be working would be Mondays 10am - 6pm, Thursdays 10am - 6pm, and Fridays 12pm - 8pm. This would be from the 29th of September, before then it would be training and trial shifts. These would be the regular weekly hours, although this is subject to some changes as open shifts come up to cover holidays/sickness etc.
Our team is amazing at helping eachother out in terms of covering shifts due to illness or other commitments, the ideal candidate would approach this job with the same willingness to support the team. You would need to thrive under pressure and be able to switch between coffee and food to service and cheese counter quickly and efficiently.
Responsibilities
* Prepare and serve a variety of food and beverage items, ensuring high standards of quality and presentation.
* Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the café area, including tables, counters, and equipment.
* Adhere to food safety regulations and hygiene standards at all times.
* Take customer orders accurately and efficiently, providing recommendations when necessary with a good knowledge of the menu and options.
* Operate coffee machines and other equipment with care, ensuring proper use and maintenance.
* Handle cash transactions and efficiently use our POS system.
* Work with team members to ensure smooth operations during busy periods.
* Manage time effectively to meet customer demands while maintaining quality service.
Requirements
* Previous experience in a café or similar environment is preferred, particularly in barista roles.
* Knowledge of food safety practices is essential.
* Strong serving skills with the ability to engage positively with customers.
* Basic math skills for handling transactions accurately.
* Excellent time management skills to handle multiple tasks efficiently.
* A friendly attitude with a strong work ethic and the ability to work as part of a team.
