We are currently looking to appoint a Clinical Administration Officer to work in the Surgical Division, 37.5 hours per week.
Job Summary
The successful candidate must be customer focused, with exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, excellent organisational skills, and an ability to work under pressure. Strong attention to detail for accurate data recording is essential. The role requires English and Maths GCSE grade C or above (or equivalent), excellent IT skills and relevant office/secretarial experience. Knowledge of medical terminology, customer care and previous NHS experience are desirable.
Responsibilities
* Provide administrative support to consultants, medical staff and senior members of the Divisional teams.
* Operate relevant IT applications, ensuring targets are met and maintaining confidentiality.
* Audio typing, receive and action patient queries.
* Book relevant appointments and process complex instructions from clinical staff.
* Support senior staff with other designated duties as appropriate.
Person Specification
Essential
* Educated to GCSE standard (English grade C or above).
* RSA III (or equivalent) Typing/Word Processing.
* Familiar with Microsoft Office, email and internet.
* Experience working in a multidisciplinary team.
* Previous office/secretarial experience.
* Good communication skills, good prioritisation and organisational skills.
* Good telephone manner, ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
* Professional appearance, awareness of confidentiality, adaptability to service needs.
Desirable
* ECDL, Shorthand skills, any office-based training such as NVQ.
* Medical terminology, audio typing RSA Stage II (or equivalent).
* Previous NHS experience, previous knowledge of PAS systems.
* Previous waiting list experience, experience preparing agendas and minute taking.
Qualifications & Training
