Our client, is currently seeking a Principal Traffic Engineer on a contract basis to join their dynamic team. This role focuses on the design and delivery of projects and services within the highways discipline, ensuring timely and budget-compliant outputs in accordance with service and division work plans.
Key Responsibilities:
Designing and delivering projects within set timeframes and budgets
Coordinating and supervising staff groups, contractors and consultants
Providing timely specialist technical advice to Councillors, senior management, professional teams, and the public
Offering expert professional evidence in public inquiries
Developing policy guidance and technical advice notes
Managing allocated projects and services, including updating business plans and financial forecasts
Maintaining and developing statutory and technical databases
Supporting the Group Manager, Area Engineering, in project delivery and deputising for the Team Manager as required
Representing the Area Engineering team in project and programme delivery with various services and teams
Mentoring and providing technical advice to officers within the Area Engineering team
Leading in providing Local Engineering and TRO advice during technical processes
Collaborating with local ward councillors and stakeholders on area committee priorities and issues
Job Requirements:
Experience in traffic engineering within the highways sector
Strong project management skills, with a focus on delivering time and budget-compliant outputs
Ability to coordinate and supervise teams effectively
Excellent technical advisory skills, capable of providing specialist advice to a diverse range of stakeholders
Proficiency in maintaining statutory and technical databases
Strong leadership and mentoring abilities
Excellent communication and public speaking skills
Relevant qualifications within traffic or civil engineering
