Offer description

Join our Healthcare Support Worker development (HCSWD) programme, where you will learn on the job at Kidderminster Hospital or Princess of Wales Bromsgrove at Hereford and Worcestershire Trust. If you have no healthcare experience, youll join our 6-month supervised placement. If you have some experience, you will be fast tracked via our 3-month placement.

Work towards your Care Certificate whilst receiving weekly pay, paid annual leave and all the other great benefits. NHS Professionals offers our bank members. Once you have successfully completed the programme you will be able to work flexibly at any of our partner Trusts.

Main duties of the job

As a trainee HCSW, you'll learn key skills, such as:

* Meeting the daily living needs of your patients, from hygiene to personal and physical comfort.
* Taking basic observations, explaining treatment and updating patient records.
* Supporting patients with mobility, assisting at mealtimes, as well as speaking with patients.
* Assisting in preparing for clinical procedures and cleaning the environment afterwards.
* Working individually and as part of a team, supporting registered Nurses and other healthcare practitioners in providing patient care.
* Comply with Trust and local policies and procedures including Safeguarding, Infection Prevention and Control.

All whilst working towards achieving the widely recognised Care Certificate with the training you need to become a Healthcare Support Worker(HCSW). Throughout, you'll have supportive supervision from your mentor/Ward Manager.

Please note that we require:

* You must be over the age of 18 before the planned classroom training week.
* You work at least 30 hours a week across earlies, late's and nights during the programme.
* You have a passion for care and can demonstrate the six enduring values that underpin compassion in practice.

After theprogramme

Once you have completed your placement and the Care Certificate 15 Standards, you can work as a HCSW or HCA for the Trust at any of their locations, and at any of our NHS Professionals partner Trusts, through the bank.

As yourfirst step in healthcare with the NHS, this could provide you with theopportunity to progress your career by accessing further training outside of the programme. In time, you could become a Senior Healthcare Assistant. After that, you could then apply to train as an Assistant Practitioner or NursingAssociate, enabling further career avenues such as a Nurse, Podiatrist or Midwife.
