Job summary The States of Guernsey are looking to appoint a Band 7 experienced Inflammatory Bowel Disease Clinical Nurse Specialist.The post holder will work alongside the Consultant Gastroenterologist to support and manage patients with inflammatory bowel conditions, working closely with the Day Assessment Unit where treatments are administered, as well as the Day Patient unit, endoscopy team, dietician and colorectal and stoma care nurses.The post holder is expected to provide education and support to patients with inflammatory bowel disease, recognising the psychological impact of the condition and planning appropriate care and follow up. As an autonomous practitioner, they will run nurse-led clinics to review patients and request investigations in line with the pathways agreed by the Consultant Gastroenterologist. Main duties of the job The Inflammatory Bowel Disease nursing post forms part of the Community Health and Social Care team. The post holder will work alongside the Consultant Gastroenterologist to manage patients with inflammatory bowel conditions, ensuring they receive appropriate treatment, monitoring and nursing support. The post holder will also work closely with the Day Assessment Unit where treatments are administered, as well as the colorectal / stoma care nurses, day patient and endoscopy staff. This role will provide education and support to patients newly diagnosed with inflammatory bowel disease, recognising the psychological impact of the condition and planning appropriate care. As an autonomous practitioner, this post will hold nurse-led clinics for assessing and monitoring patients. This will include requesting appropriate investigations in line with pathways agreed by the Consultant Gastroenterologist.
