About the role

This post is for a Healthcare Support Worker within the X-ray and DXA team at Dewsbury and District Hospital. The hours of work are normally 8-4 or 9-5:30.

The successful candidate will be expected to rotate between Dewsbury and District Hospital and the Community Diagnostic Centre (Westgate Retail Park, Wakefield).

There is often the opportunity to pick up further shifts on evenings, weekends and nights.

Main duties

To work under the direction of a registrant (usually this is a radiographer) and participate fully in the delivery of a planned/ acute care of patients attending the radiology service for treatment/ investigations.

To provide general support in the X-ray and DXA team. This will include providing 1-1 patients centred care, assisting patients with changing, general cleaning and tidying of the department, support patients through their examinations and performing some admin/ clerical roles.

Essential person specification requirements

Willingness to undertake the Care Certificate and induction programme.

Willingness to undertake Functional skills level 2 Maths & English if not already qualified at GCSE or equivalent level in Maths & English.

Applicant must be a team player, with a positive attitude and willingness to take on tasks.

The successful candidate will be expected to comply with the trust core values of Respect, Caring, Improving and High Standards.

The applicant will need to ensure they maintain a safe working environment for self and others. and must be able to communicate clearly and concisely over the phone, face to face and written.
