Main duties of the job The Prostate Pathway Specialist role has been developed in response to evolving models of healthcare delivery, with a strong focus on advanced clinical expertise. The post holder will provide expert, evidence-based advice and specialist clinical input within the prostate pathway, working collaboratively with colleagues to support patients and their families. They will contribute to the nurse-led service for patients referred with suspected prostate cancer, including triaging referrals and arranging appropriate investigations as part of the diagnostic pathway across both Bedfordshire Hospital sites. The role also involves supporting patients as they transition into medical or clinical oncology care at the appropriate stage, ensuring smooth handover of keyworker responsibilities. In addition, the post holder will offer specialist nursing advice and help facilitate the safe repatriation of cancer patients back into community services where appropriate.
