Role Purpose
Based at Galashiels Roads depot, SBC Roads Operations are looking for an enthusiastic individual to supervise and work within a team carrying out highly visible front line services. The successful applicant will lead a team undertaking specialist works such as slabbing, kerbing, blacktop, drainage and winter maintenance.
This job requires the post holder to support the provision of an efficient and effective service in accordance with predetermined schedules. The post holder should have significant experience in either highways or construction works. The role may include but is not restricted to all aspects of roads maintenance such as roads drainage, concreting, kerbing, blocking and blacktop works. Ensure that work is performed in a safe and responsible manner in compliance with the relevant risk assessment, for the duties/tasks. To respond to emergencies all year round and be required to be on standby rotas for summer and winter maintenance operations.

Essential
A basic education (Numeracy and literacy)
Certified relevant machinery and plant use qualification/s (i.e. Lantra certificates, NPTC, SVQ II, CSCS, CPCS or NPORS cards) or obtained within reasonable timescales
A current driving licence and use of a vehicle is an essential requirement of this post. * If you have a disability which precludes you from holding a drivers licence, Scottish Borders Council will take into account its responsibility to make reasonable adjustments to allow for your disability.
