We are recruiting Healthcare Assistants to join our newspecialist Complex Wound Service. This is an excellent entry-level opportunityfor individuals passionate about patient care to develop skills in woundmanagement. You will work alongside experienced nurses and GPAs, providingessential support in delivering high-quality wound care services across NorthShropshire.
Main duties of the job
* Assist qualified staff with wound dressing procedures
* Prepare clinical rooms and equipment for wound clinics
* Support patients during wound care procedures
* Help position patients comfortably for treatment
* Perform basic observations (blood pressure, pulse, temperature) as required
* Maintain infection control standards at all times
* Clean and prepare wound care equipment between patients
* Assist with simple dressing changes under supervision
* Greet patients warmly and help them feel at ease
* Assist patients with mobility, including wheelchair transfers
* Ensure patient dignity and privacy during procedures
* Provide comfort and reassurance during treatments
* Report any patient concerns to qualified staff immediately
* Help patients understand basic wound care instructions

Clinical Support

* Stock clinical rooms with wound care supplies
* Check expiry dates and rotate stock appropriately
* Maintain tidy and organised clinical areas
* Input basic data into computer systems
* File documents and maintain patient records
* Answer phones and direct queries appropriately
* Ensure clinical waste is disposed of correctly
* Maintain cleanliness of clinical areas to infection control standards
* Launder clinical items as required
* Report equipment faults or maintenance needs
* Ensure health and safety standards are maintained

WORKING PATTERN
Rota includes:
* Monday-Friday day shifts
* Evening sessions 6:30pm-8:30pm (on rotation)
* Saturday mornings 8:00am-1:00pm (1 in 5)
