Overview
This particular position is for one of the Research Fellows that will be made in the Strathclyde Institute of Pharmacy and Biomedical Sciences (SIPBS). For the appointment in SIPBS, the Research Fellow is expected to lead world‑leading, innovative research projects in the context of systems neuroscience and neurotechnology working closely with Prof Sakata and other members at the centre. The Research Fellow is expected to engage in collaborative, multidisciplinary research, establishing a distinctive research programme and publishing results through high‑impact journal publications. The Research Fellow is also expected to apply as a Project Lead or Co‑Lead to external bodies to generate research incomes. The Research Fellow is also expected to supervise other ECRs including PhD students and to develop high‑level management and mentoring skills.
Responsibilities
* Lead world‑leading, innovative research projects in systems neuroscience and neurotechnology, working closely with Prof Sakata and other members at the centre.
* Engage in collaborative, multidisciplinary research, establishing a distinctive research programme.
* Publish results through high‑impact journal publications.
* Apply as a Project Lead or Co‑Lead to external bodies to generate research incomes.
* Supervise other ECRs, including PhD students.
* Develop high‑level management and mentoring skills.
Qualifications
* Be educated to a minimum of PhD level in an appropriate discipline or have significant relevant experience in addition to a relevant degree.
* Have research interests consistent with the strategic direction of the Centre/Department.
* Have a body of published research in high‑quality publications demonstrating standards of excellence.
* Be able to develop research proposals and attract funding and research students, including experience contributing to grant applications.
* Be able to plan and organise research programmes to ensure successful completion.
* Have experience planning and organising workloads, and the ability to supervise and delegate work.
* Have some experience of teaching at undergraduate and/or postgraduate levels.
* Be able to work within a team environment, lead teams, and possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to listen, engage, persuade, and present complex information in an accessible way to a range of audiences.
