Pro currently has an exciting opportunity for a Technical Claims Manager to join our Legacy claims team on a permanent basis. As a technical lead, this role will drive the technical excellence of the team and involve the formulation and delivery of Pro’s Value-Add proposition to clients.
Pro has UK office locations in London, Glasgow, Gloucester, Horsham, and Liverpool, with a flexible working policy regarding location and remote work. The post holder may need to travel between these locations as necessary.
Responsibilities
Reporting to the Head of Strategy, the Technical Claims Manager will manage a caseload of high-value and complex legacy claims, including:
* Overseeing the technical claims performance of the team
* Identifying targeted Technical Claims Value-Add strategies and measuring their success through a data-led approach, proposing recommendations to the Head of Strategy for client approval
* Delivering targeted strategies effectively
* Working with the Specialist Claims Analyst to develop data points and reports to monitor the Value-Add Proposition
* Promoting a culture of excellence through quality assurance, controls, training, coaching, and feedback
* Owning the Quality Assurance and Quality Control functions
* Ensuring QA/QC is completed on time and to standard, with Technical PDPs in place for all team members
* Providing technical advice and guidance to colleagues and acting as a referral point for complex or high-value claims
* Contributing to PR campaigns, thought leadership articles, blogs, and website content
* Managing projects relevant to the team and Pro’s wider claims proposition
* Supporting business development initiatives and participating as Claims SME in relevant activities
* Analyzing and commenting on MI and preparing presentations to support client value delivery
* Representing Pro at market forums and working parties, advocating for client interests
* Contributing to PLF Audit and supplier Quality Control frameworks
* Liaising with solicitors and brokers, maintaining accurate records, identifying potential fraud, and providing external technical advice
Experience and Skills
* Minimum of 10 years’ experience managing EL/PL Legacy Claims, including NID, HAVs, and Pleural Plaques
* Strong understanding of legal concepts such as Duty, Breach, Causation, and Limitation, with the ability to assess Quantum and Apportionment
* Experience with other claim types is advantageous
* Excellent policy interpretation skills
* Ability to meet Service Level Agreements
* Effective communication and stakeholder management skills
* Knowledge of claims handling, quality assurance, fraud, and relevant legislation for strategic decision-making
* Professional communication skills, particularly with high-value or profile claims
* Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
* Coaching and mentoring abilities
* Adaptability to change
* Knowledge of the legal system in England & Wales, including CPR and pre-action protocols; knowledge of Scottish and Northern Irish systems is a plus
