Keyman Personnel is working with a well-established contractor to recruit a talented and motivated Plant Manager. This is an exciting opportunity for someone ready to take ownership of a vital function in a fast-paced construction environment. You’ll play a central role in keeping operations running smoothly across multiple live sites.
About the Role:
As Plant Manager, you'll be at the heart of project delivery, ensuring that machinery and equipment are operating efficiently, safely, and in full compliance.
This hands-on leadership role offers the chance to shape plant strategy, reduce costs, and support successful project outcomes across a range of major works.
What You’ll Be Doing:
1. Plant Operations & Logistics
* Oversee daily plant operations across multiple sites
* Coordinate plant movements in line with project schedules
* Ensure high levels of equipment utilisation and availability
1. Maintenance & Compliance
* Manage servicing, inspections, and breakdown response
* Keep all equipment compliant with LOLER, PUWER, and health & safety standards
* Maintain accurate service records and reporting
2. Team Leadership
* Lead a team of plant operatives and fitters, both in-house and subcontracted
* Ensure appropriate training and certifications are in place
* Foster a strong health and safety culture
3. Procurement & Cost Management
* Work with suppliers to source, hire, or purchase equipment
* Monitor and control plant-related costs and downtime
* Explore opportunities for improved efficiency and cost savings
4. Systems & Reporting
* Use plant management software (e.g., Syrinx, Coins) to maintain digital records
* Generate regular reports on performance, usage, and costs
Essential Requirements:
* Proven experience in a similar plant management role within construction
* In-depth understanding of heavy plant machinery
* Knowledge of health and safety regulations, including LOLER and PUWER
* Full UK driving licence
Desirable Qualifications:
* CPCS or NPORS qualifications (or a strong understanding of them)
* Experience using plant management systems
* Mechanical or maintenance background
