About the role We are excited to announce a new permanent position within our People / Development team structure: HAC Management Development Lead. This role is pivotal in shaping the future of our Centre Manager (CM) leadership by enhancing both functional and leadership skills across our network. With a clear focus on building capability, engagement, and retention, this role will play a key part in developing a high-performing leadership culture aligned with our business goals. By investing in our people, we aim to elevate the standard of leadership across our centres and drive the continued success of the HAC business. The role will lead and manage a team of five divisional trainers, each responsible for delivering impactful training to CMs and aspiring CMs across their respective regions. A central part of the role involves delivering our Pulse Leadership Programme to all CMs, ensuring consistent, relevant, and high-quality development. The successful candidate will also be responsible for identifying evolving training needs and updating content accordingly, helping to future-proof our leadership pipeline. Additional responsibilities may include supporting wider development initiatives such as management apprenticeships and cross-business management development programmes, as directed by the line manager. Interviews for this role will be held face-to-face at the Support Centre between the 28 th May and the 6 th June. Key responsibilities Plan and deliver cost-effective training programmes for Centre Managers (CMs) and aspiring CMs across all regions, aligning with business peaks, trainer availability, and operational resource needs. Coordinate and schedule training delivery to maximise efficiency and impact. Drive high levels of attendance and engagement by working closely with Divisional Directors and Regional General Managers to prioritise training needs. Monitor and report on training attendance and utilisation, ensuring accountability and continuous improvement. Track and evaluate the impact of training on leadership effectiveness and overall business performance. Regularly review and update training content to ensure it is relevant, effective, and aligned with business goals and identified skills gaps. Collaborate with operational leaders and business stakeholders to understand evolving needs and strategic priorities. Spend time in the field to stay connected to current challenges and opportunities across the business. Ensure all training initiatives reflect the latest operational strategies and development priorities. Line manage divisional management training team, setting clear objectives, providing regular developmental feedback, and supporting their professional growth. Organise and manage the work schedules of the training team to ensure consistent delivery across all regions. Foster a high-performance culture within the training team, inspiring excellence in training standards and outcomes. Ensure alignment and consistency across all active training projects. Attend cross-functional project meetings to ensure training is integrated into wider business strategies and developments. About you Proven experience in learning and development (L&D) training design, including the ability to create engaging, practical, and outcome-focused training programmes tailored to leadership and functional development needs. Capability in needs analysis, content creation, programme structuring, and incorporating feedback to evolve materials over time. Strong facilitation skills with a track record of confidently delivering training to diverse audiences. Able to create a dynamic and inclusive learning environment that encourages participation, drives behavioural change, and supports practical application of skills in the workplace. Proven track record in managing, mentoring, and developing a team. Solid understanding of Halfords Autocentre (HAC) operations or similar multi-site automotive or retail service environments. Must be commercially aware, able to interpret operational needs, and align training delivery with business goals, customer service standards, and centre performance metrics.
