Secondary School in Axminster is currently looking for a Cover Supervisor to join them for flexible cover. The school would ideally like someone to start this term, for a full/part-time opportunity that runs from Monday to Friday between 8.30 and 3.30. The specific days can vary, but there is consistent work available for the right candidate.
The school regularly requires Cover Supervisors to oversee classes across KS3 and KS4. Cover work will be assigned by the Class Teacher, and a good general understanding of most subjects is beneficial.
Ideal candidates are flexible and adaptable to various classes. You must be confident in teaching across KS3 and KS4, and intuitive, as you will be following pre-planned lessons and need to do so with ease. Teaching qualifications are not essential, but extensive experience working in schools is preferred. A degree in a specific subject, such as Maths, would be advantageous.
What will you do as a Cover Supervisor?
1. Supervise students actively, providing clear instructions to keep them on task and responding to queries.
2. Communicate effectively with students to engage them during cover lessons.
3. Manage behaviour in line with school policies, promoting positive behaviour.
4. Display organisational and time management skills, and be highly flexible in a busy school environment.
5. Support students with good literacy, numeracy, and communication skills.
6. Collaborate with staff to maximise student outcomes.
7. Report back to teachers as required.
