• To maintain the school premises to a high standard of cleanliness, including classrooms, offices, toilets, cloakrooms, staircases, corridors, halls, and other areas in use.
• In consultation with the Cleaning Supervisor, to identify cleaning issues and implement the required cleaning processes to rectify them.
• To monitor stocks of cleaning equipment and materials to ensure timely reordering.
• To be responsible for cleaning designated parts of the school site as allocated by the cleaner in charge, usually working with another team member.
• To use cleaning materials as instructed by the caretaker.
• To operate cleaning machinery such as vacuum cleaners and polishers.
• To maintain confidentiality regarding school-related matters and prevent disclosure of sensitive information.
• Duties include:
1. Vacuum cleaning floors (hard and soft).
2. Spot cleaning spillages.
3. Wiping furniture, ledges, pipes, paintwork, doors, and polishing glass and windows.
4. Emptying and cleaning waste and recycling bins.
5. Cleaning toilets and sanitary fittings.
6. Mopping and spray cleaning hard floor surfaces.
7. Wiping, polishing, and straightening furniture.
8. Replenishing supplies in toilets and classrooms.
9. Checking and closing windows, switching off lights after work.
• During school holidays or deep cleaning periods, undertake tasks such as floor stripping and sealing, removing chewing gum, high-level dusting, wall washing, and moving furniture for deep cleans.
• Undertake additional cleaning duties as directed by the Cleaning Supervisor or Soft Services Manager.
• Report all defects and hazards immediately to the Cleaner in charge.
• Follow all Health & Safety procedures in accordance with company policies.
Skills & Knowledge:
* Experience in a cleaning environment, preferably multi-site.
* BICSc certification (not essential).
* Pro-active attitude and self-driven.
* Good communication skills.
* Ability to build relationships with clients and exceed expectations.
* Approachable demeanor and team commitment.
* Experience in similar roles.
