3-4 months contract with a Local Authority Job Summary: • A skilled Fire Door Inspector and Remedial Works Operative is required for a temporary contract within a housing-focused compliance team. • The role involves conducting bi-annual fire door inspections across residential properties and undertaking minor remedial repairs. • The successful candidate will ensure that inspections and repair work meet current fire safety regulations and statutory requirements, while maintaining clear records and communicating effectively with tenants and internal teams. • It offers the opportunity to contribute directly to fire safety compliance within social housing, in a dynamic and responsible setting. Key Duties/Accountabilities (Sample): • Carry out scheduled fire door inspections across a range of housing properties. • Identify and complete minor repairs to fire doors in line with current fire safety regulations. • Record inspection outcomes and repairs using appropriate digital systems. • Liaise with tenants and colleagues to schedule inspections efficiently. • Prepare regular inspection reports and assist with data collation. • Maintain accurate office and site records for fire door-related activities. • Ensure compliance with health & safety, equality, diversity, and environmental policies. • Support the wider compliance team with asset data collection, IT systems, and customer service projects. • Adhere to data protection protocols and report any potential breaches. • Work flexibly and outside standard hours when required. Skills/Experience: • Proven experience inspecting and repairing fire doors in residential properties. • Sound understanding of building construction, materials, components, and relevant fire safety/building regulations. • Ability to carry out repairs ensuring fire doors meet legal standards. • Confidence to converse with residents and stakeholders in clear, accurate spoken English. • Strong time management and self-motivation – capable of working independently. • Familiarity with health & safety legislation applicable to the construction and housing sector. • Comfortable with administrative tasks including data entry and reporting. • Competent using digital systems and reporting tools. • Previous experience in housing compliance or building safety roles is highly desirable. Additional Information: • The closing date: 27/08/2025. • This is a full-time, 37-hour per week role, working under the Housing, Planning, Regeneration and Regulatory Services division. • Driving Licence Required: Yes – access to a vehicle for borough-wide travel is essential.
