Primary Responsibility
Our exciting fast- developing company requires a dynamic finance professional to support the company’s corporate finance function.
The role will be responsible for leading the financial close, consolidation and external financial reporting processes, for Adaptimmune. This role will be key in performing technical accounting research, preparing related accounting memos, advising other finance functions on complex business transactions, implement new accounting policies/procedures throughout the company and lead accounting projects. This role will be integral in our quarterly and annual reporting and filing submissions and managing relationships with auditors and other external advisors.
Key Responsibilities
1. Prepare financial information and disclosures for quarterly and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP and SEC reporting requirements
2. Assist in and lead the evaluation of the accounting treatment for significant and complex transactions. Research applicable GAAP and SEC accounting and disclosure requirements for proposed transactions and liaison with other functions to ensure cross-functional alignment.
3. Acting as a key day-to-day contact for external and internal auditors and other accounting advisors, as applicable.
4. Perform and manage the monthly consolidation process and provide key financial insights and corporate financial dashboard
5. Perform and manage monthly and quarterly collaboration revenue process, including monthly reviews with project team, and stock-based compensation accounting process.
6. Act as a key internal advisor to the broader finance function on accounting matters, including decisions on technical accounting matters and implementation of accounting policies and processes.
7. Acts as the accounting lead for company-wide projects with significant accounting implications
8. Assist with implementation of, and compliance with, Sarbanes-Oxley Section 404 key controls and processes
9. Proactively work on initiatives to implement operational and cross-functional accounting efficiencies through process improvements and control enhancements. Aids automation and streamlining of internal and business reporting processes.
Qualifications & Experience
Required
10. Bachelor's degree
11. An appropriate financial reporting qualification (ACA, CPA gained within major accounting firm)
12. Post qualified experience in financial reporting or other relevant roles (ideally within a life science environment)
13. ‘Big Four’ experience or experience in a similar financial reporting role for US-listed and/or Plc companies
14. Proficient and comfortable in accounting technical research and interpretation across US GAAP and IFRS.
15. Working knowledge of SEC reporting requirements

16. Experience working in a SOX-compliant environment
17. Experience working with internal and external auditors
18. Previous experience working in audit at manager level or in accounting advisory roles
19. Masters degree
