The Site Buyer is to effectively negotiate purchasing contracts adding value through Time, Cost, and Quality whilst providing a service of supply that meets all operational requirements of the business, allowing Bischof & Klein to exceed our customers’ expectations. Role Objectives / Principle Duties To deliver the best direct & indirect purchasing value to Operations, allowing B&K Telford to Manufacture and Supply competitively all materials and services in line with our customers’ requirements. Candidate Profile Strong interpersonal and communication skills the ability to influence, network and develop relationships at all levels. Experienced in the flexographic printing industry, candidates will be able to demonstrate previous experience in a similar role within a manufacturing environment. A proven track record of managing projects and delivering cost saving initiatives in a manufacturing environment, without impacting internal and external customers. A proven track record of commercial awareness with a dynamic and proactive approach to market conditions. The main responsibilities of the role include: Time - Service & Availability Provide our suppliers with quarterly forecasts in line with our customers demand, ensuring suppliers understand deviations of supply. Develop and customise purchasing contracts for continuous lean supply in line with group sourcing policies and procedures. Monitoring supplier performance ensuring adherence to Time, Cost and Quality requirements, undertaking corrective action where appropriate. To ensure supplier supply systems support lean production requirements. Act as a facilitator between users of materials and services and our suppliers. Cost - Purchase Price Productivity To maintain and strive to over achieve purchase price targets. Continuous revision of prices and specifications with a view to cost reduction. Drive innovative changes in materials identifying cost saving benefits through raw material excellence team. Evaluate and challenge all price revisions and their commercial effect on sales price evolution. Constantly review supply markets for competitive sources, innovations in materials, supply systems, using the most appropriate indices for validation. Engaging suppliers in value analysis & cost reduction programs. Support continuous improvement teams. Quality - Quality Assurance & Supplier Development Establish and sustain long term partnerships with suppliers. Ensure quality assurance of suppliers through regular supplier reviews/visits and ensure corrective action taken in conjunction with quality department. Ensure suppliers are in possession of latest material or service specifications. Ensure new specifications are submitted to the suppliers. Manage any change in specification to minimise obsolete stock, ensuring adherence to the standard. Education of suppliers through meetings, presentations and audits. Monitor quality of suppliers through regular supplier reviews/visits and ensure corrective action taken in conjunction with quality department. Select key suppliers for supplier development process and execute in conjunction with the Supplier development / Quality team. Work with suppliers to identify continuous improvement initiatives.
