The Finance Business Analyst serves as a critical link between the Finance Function and Enterprise Technology Team, translating complex business problems, processes, and data into clear, actionable deliverables and insights. This role drives informed decision-making by developing robust financial models, supporting strategic planning, and improving financial processes across the organization. The post-holder will work closely with senior stakeholders to support Root Cause Analysis, Requirements Gathering, Process Documentation, Defining Problems, Gathering Data, and Providing Solution Options and Solution Acceptance, ensuring the organisation has the robust and efficient financial processes and intelligence it needs to achieve its strategic objectives.
Responsibilities
* Gather, identify, and document business requirements and processes, facilitating clear communication between business stakeholders and technical teams to ensure a shared understanding of requirements and expectations.
* Collaborate with stakeholders to define project scope, objectives, and deliverables.
* Conduct detailed analysis of current business processes and workflows to identify inefficiencies and propose streamlined solutions.
* Create use cases, As-Is & To-Be process diagrams, and other documentation to support requirements.
* Perform GAP analysis to identify differences between current and desired states.
* Work in close collaboration with project and technical teams to ensure requirements are understood, managed, and delivered effectively.
* Obtain a thorough understanding of relevant business areas, products, and services to recommend appropriate solutions.
* Analyze root causes of organizational issues and suggest appropriate resolutions.
* Build trusted relationships with management, SMEs, business sponsors, and third parties at different levels within the organisation.
* Assist with Functional and User Acceptance Testing, governance processes, and sign-off.
* Provide the link between the customer, solution teams, and any third parties regarding software functionality throughout the development lifecycle.
* Day-to-day management of change requests in relation to project and BAU plans to ensure agreed deadlines are met.
* Manage the RAID log, ensuring risks, assumptions, issues, and dependencies are tracked and escalated appropriately.
* Gain and maintain a detailed understanding of the business data model, workflow processes and architecture across key applications.
* Assist in the preparation of business cases, solution designs, system acceptance tests, and support handover documentation.
Qualifications
* Minimum 5-7 years of proven experience as a Business Analyst, with a demonstrable track record of delivering medium to large Finance Transformation Projects.
* In-depth knowledge of requirements documentation techniques, process flow modelling, and business use case development.
* Proven experience gathering, analysing and documenting complex business requirements and processes across Finance functions.
* Strong understanding of software development methodologies, including Waterfall and Agile, with the ability to adapt the BA approach to the delivery model.
Finance Domain Expertise
* Detailed working knowledge of Finance processes, including Order-to-Cash, Procure-to-Pay, Record-to-Report, financial planning, and month-end close.
* Experience working with Finance stakeholders, including Finance Directors, Controllers, Accountants, and Finance Operations teams.
Technical Skills
* Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel (Power Query development), Word, and PowerPoint.
* Expert-level process documentation using Microsoft Visio or equivalent process modelling tools (BPMN).
* Experience creating reports and dashboards using multiple data sources and visualisation tools.
* Strong data analysis capabilities with the ability to manipulate and analyse complex datasets.
* Desirable: Experience with NetSuite, Oracle EPM, GreatPlains or similar enterprise Finance systems.
Professional Certifications
* Relevant professional Business Analysis certification required: CBAP (Certified Business Analysis Professional) or actively working toward CBAP with minimum ECBA (Entry Certificate in Business Analysis), or BCS Foundation Certificate in Business Analysis or higher.
* Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying current with BA best practices.

* Exceptional communication skills (written and verbal in English) with the ability to articulate complex concepts clearly to diverse audiences.
* Strong influencing skills with the ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders to determine acceptable solutions.
* Proven ability to challenge constructively and negotiate trade-offs between competing requirements.
* Experience facilitating workshops, requirements elicitation sessions, and stakeholder alignment meetings.
