Senior Electrical Design Engineer (Contract)
£40 per hour | Outside IR35 | Manchester City Centre

An established and well‑regarded building services consulting practice based in Manchester city centre is looking to appoint a Senior Electrical Design Engineer on a contract basis, due to a strong and growing project workload.
This is a hands‑on delivery role suited to an engineer who enjoys taking ownership of electrical design from concept through to construction, working closely with mechanical engineers, BIM teams, architects and contractors.
The Opportunity
You’ll be joining a technically strong, delivery‑focused MEP consultancy working across a broad range of projects, including commercial, residential, mixed‑use and education schemes. The role offers autonomy, pace and the chance to make a genuine impact on live projects — not just review work from afar.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and deliver electrical building services designs from RIBA Stage 2–5
* Produce and check electrical calculations, specifications and reports
* Oversee and coordinate Revit‑based electrical design work
* Support and mentor junior engineers and technicians
* Liaise directly with clients, architects and contractors
* Attend design meetings and provide technical leadership
What We’re Looking For
* Proven experience as a Senior Electrical Design Engineer within MEP/building services consultancy
* Strong technical grounding across LV systems, lighting, power, fire, life safety and security
* Confident working in a Revit‑led design environment
* Comfortable working at pace on multiple projects
* Able to work collaboratively in a 5‑day, office‑based team environment
* UK project experience essential

* Rate: £40 per hour
* Status: Outside IR35
* Location: Manchester city centre
* Working pattern: 5 days per week in office
* Start: Immediate / short notice
