Senior Data Science / ML Engineer – Foundational Role
We have an exciting opportunity to join an early-stage tech company in the mental health and wellbeing sector as a hands-on ML / Data Engineer. This is a high-impact, foundational role where you’ll help shape the core ML and data systems powering the product from day one.
You’ll be coding, designing ML pipelines, scaling systems and influencing product direction. This role comes with broad responsibility and real ownership and your work will directly define the company’s data, engineering and product trajectory.
What you’ll do
* Build and own end-to-end ML systems, including data ingestion, modeling, deployment and monitoring
* Lead the development of the Large Feelings Model (LFM) from high-frequency sensor and device data, transforming real-world signals into actionable insights
* Work with high-frequency sensor and device data, and large-scale, high-dimensional datasets
* Architect scalable, cost-effective data pipelines for real-time and batch processing
* Collaborate with neuroscience, research and product teams to turn experimental insights into production-ready models
* Design experiments to validate model performance, robustness and bias, while balancing latency, cost and privacy
* Help define technical standards, architecture and processes, while mentoring a growing team
What we’re looking for
* Strong hands-on experience with machine learning and production deployment
* Comfortable with Python, cloud platforms (AWS/GCP), CI/CD and data engineering fundamentals
* Experience or strong interest in time-series, signal processing, streaming systems (Kafka, Kinesis, Flink, Spark)
* Familiarity with MLOps practices, privacy constraints or regulatory considerations is a plus
* Thrives in early-stage, unstructured environments and comfortable taking on big challenges with broad responsibility
* Excited to own problems end-to-end and help shape both product and team from scratch
