Band 6 Senior Community Learning Disability Nurse
Are you an experienced Learning Disability nurse who is passionate about improving people’s lives? We’re looking to recruit an experienced and enthusiastic Band 6 Senior Community Learning Disability Nurse.
Key Responsibilities
* Participate in the delivery of a countywide specialist LD nursing under the guidance of the lead Nurse by managing a caseload of clients with complex learning disabilities.
* Provide professional supervision to other staff/students as appropriate including appraisal and professional development particularly mandatory training.
* Contribute to the planning, development, and evaluation of learning disability services, including projects as delegated by the LDP management team via the Lead Nurse.
* Act as an autonomous practitioner managing a specialist caseload providing assessment, identification and treatment of the health needs of adults with a learning disability.
* Participate in multidisciplinary/multi‑agency working within the LDP and with key partners.
* Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of working with adults with a learning disability and be willing to undertake appropriate post‑registration training.
* Understand health and social care policy and legislation for the service user group in relation to your professional practice.
* Keep up to date and support implementation of national recommendations including LeDer findings and other health initiatives to reduce health inequalities and improve the health of people with a learning disability.
* Have a good understanding of the specific needs of the service user group, including at times of crisis such as placement breakdowns, mental health and physical health relapses, and periods of challenging behaviour.
* Recognise the impact of a person’s communication needs and tailor interaction to meet this need.
* Have the ability to communicate very sensitive or distressing information to service users and carers as required.
* Possess skills in conflict resolution and positive behaviour approaches.
* Plan, implement and regularly review nursing care plans.
Travel Requirements
The role requires independent travel around the county, meeting strict time deadlines. You must hold a full UK driving licence and have use of a vehicle. Public transport is not acceptable for this role.
