Senior Procurement Manager – Subcontract
Location: Hybrid – 3 days onsite (Surrey)
Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent
Salary: £60,000-£75,000 + £6,000 Car + Bonus
About the Role
We’re working on behalf of a major infrastructure contractor to recruit a Senior Procurement & Subcontract Manager for their water sector division. This is a pivotal leadership role, responsible for delivering robust procurement strategies across major frameworks and infrastructure programmes.
A critical requirement for this role is extensive subcontract procurement experience, particularly within the infrastructure or construction sectors. You must have a strong command of NEC3 and NEC4 contracts, including the ability to negotiate heavily amended versions and achieve commercially sound outcomes.
This is a hands-on, high-impact role for a commercially sharp procurement leader who can manage complexity, influence stakeholders, and lead change in a dynamic project environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead the end-to-end subcontract procurement process on major infrastructure projects.
* Develop and implement category and procurement strategies aligned to both project and business goals.
* Negotiate and manage NEC3/NEC4 subcontract agreements, including heavily modified versions.
* Ensure full commercial governance and alignment with internal risk management protocols.
* Build, manage, and optimise the project supply chain, ensuring performance and value delivery.
* Collaborate closely with delivery teams, estimators, commercial leads, and suppliers.
* Drive sustainable procurement outcomes including ESG, social value, and SME engagement.
* Support work-winning activity and preconstruction planning with strategic supply chain input.
* Interface with client procurement and commercial teams, ensuring alignment with framework expectations.
Must-Have Experience
* Proven background in subcontract procurement within infrastructure, utilities, or construction.
* Strong NEC3 and NEC4 contract knowledge, including negotiation of amended clauses.
* Minimum 5 years in a senior procurement/supply chain leadership role.
* Track record of commercial delivery and risk mitigation through subcontract management.
* Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills across commercial and delivery functions.
* Demonstrable experience leading procurement on complex, high-value projects.
Qualifications
* Degree in Supply Chain, Business, Commercial Management, or a related field.
* Chartered MCIPS or equivalent professional certification.
