Metrologist

£35-40K with flexible hours & hybrid working
A long-established and well-respected heavy engineering company that rises above the Sheffield landscape has a requirement, due to continued expansion, to engage the services of a Metrologist to support the Design team with higher quality checking and verification of parts & assemblies with use of 3D scanning.
The current team consists of 3 and this position is an addition due to continued increase in work.
The role can be split into 2 main activities,
* Shopfloor scanning
* Analysis and reporting against 3D models
Current projects include bridging systems for the British Army, subsea cutters, and rescue submersibles – projects are diverse and wide varied.
The business operates core hours with flexibility – there must be recognition to company needs, but in principle, you can set your own hours.
There is also the opportunity to work from home when the activity is analysis/reporting, and systems are in place to fully support this.
This position supports the design function within the team; there is future opportunity, should you wish, to receive SolidWorks training and be more involved in that area also.
In summary, the role requires someone who can ‘take the reins, make it work, and make it better’.
Guideline experience includes,
* Knowledge/ experience of 3D scanning systems (Creaform preferred) and associated computer software packages.
* Good ability to read engineering drawings especially tolerancing and geometric controls
* Fabrication/ Machining engineering background
* Quality engineering background
* Confident working on the "shop floor
