Main Responsibilities:
Promote an environmental, health and safety awareness/culture to fully achieve compliance with
legislation and the strategic direction of the Company, demonstrating best practice within business constraints.
Ensure the Company’s rules, policies and procedures are compliant with current environmental, health and safety legislation, and to provide support and guidance to ensure that all employees operate within these requirements.
Support the environment, health and safety strategic direction of the Company and give support in meeting those related objectives.
Ensure that an Environmental Management System is established, implemented, and maintained in accordance with ISO 14001.
Report to top management on the performance of H&S metrics and the Environmental
Management System including recommendations for improvements.
Identify and implement energy saving improvements for the whole facility in line with environmental targets.
Ensure that any contractors to site receive appropriate induction training and ensure that all risk assessments and method statements are provided in advance and are deemed appropriate for the activity.
Ensure compliance with H&S legislation across the business, including advising on best working practices, toolbox talks, links into induction training, training session etc.
Fully investigate all claims related to personal injury and collect data, witness statements, evidence etc. to help support each case.
Liaise with the Company’s insurers regarding any personal injury claims and provide al required data to them regarding each claim.
To be responsible for the investigation process, including remedial action of all incidents and accidents ensuring that they are accurately recorded and reported internally and externally to the
HSE when appropriate and within the required timeframe.
Ensure generic and specific risk assessments are conducted for all areas of the business and provide support and guidance to Line Managers when completing the assessments.
Ensure all areas requiring specific PPE are clearly identified and in use, with safety notices clearly displayed.
Provide technical support to other areas / departments to ensure compliance to all standards.
Qualifications & Experience
A minimum of 5 GCE’s (or equivalent) at Grade C and above, to include Math’s and English
JOSH / NEBOSH qualification (General / Environmental / Fire)
ISO14001 auditor
Qualified First Aider/First Aider Trainer
Previous experience within a health and safety environment
Engineering / Manufacturing background / FMCG
Fully computer literate, particularly regarding Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
