Overview
The Program Coordinator supports the implementation and coordination of programs and services for the Ole Miss Opportunity (OMO) Scholarship Program and first-generation students at the University of Mississippi. This role supports the planning and delivery of initiatives that enhance academic success, student engagement, and retention. The coordinator serves as a point of contact for students, collaborates with campus partners, and provides logistical and administrative support for events and outreach efforts.
Responsibilities
* Coordinates and assists with the execution of workshops, events, and initiatives that support the success of OMO Scholars and first-generation students.
* Serves as a resource and advocate for students, referring them to appropriate campus services, including but not limited to academic support, financial aid, counseling, and career services.
* Provides administrative support for program logistics, communications, scheduling, and tracking student participation.
* Collaborates with faculty, staff, and student organizations to promote a welcoming campus environment for first-generation students.
* Supports outreach efforts targeting prospective first-generation students and families, including pre-college initiatives and admissions events.
* Assists with recruitment and transition events in collaboration with university partners such as Admissions, Orientation, and others as needed.
* Helps monitor and report student engagement and program outcomes using data collection tools.
* Maintains program materials, digital content, and resource information.
* May supervise student employees.
* Performs related or similar duties as assigned.
Essential Functions
1. Assists in managing daily operations of the projects, programs or office to which assigned.
2. Establishes and/or maintains a recordkeeping system for programs, projects or office to which assigned and enters data into records or into system databases as appropriate and as needed.
3. Plans and develops methods and procedures for implementing projects.
4. Establishes and maintains productive relationships with state, federal, and private agencies as appropriate and as directed.
5. May coordinate events or conferences, from planning and advertising, to contracting for services from vendors, to registration and event completion.
6. Initiates contractual agreements between the University of Mississippi and outside agents for supervisor review and signature.
The University of Mississippi conducts background investigations for applicants being considered for employment. Background investigations include a criminal history record check, and when appropriate, a financial (credit) report or driving history check.
Qualifications
* Education: Bachelor’s Degree
* Substitution Statement: An equivalent combination of related experience and education may be considered for this role. Substitutions of the required experience or education will be assessed on a 1:1 substitution basis.
* Physical Exertion: The incumbent may be required to lift up to approximately 10 pounds.
