About the Role
We are seeking an enthusiastic and committed Teacher of Geography to join a welcoming and supportive mainstream secondary school in Blackburn on a 12-month maternity cover contract, starting in September 2026.
This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate educator to inspire students across Key Stages 3 and 4 delivering engaging and high-quality geography lessons. You will be part of a dedicated humanities department with a strong focus on student achievement and curriculum development.
Key Responsibilities
* Plan and deliver engaging and differentiated Geography lessons in line with the national curriculum
* Monitor, assess, and track student progress, providing timely feedback
* Contribute to a positive learning environment that supports all students to succeed
* Work collaboratively with department colleagues and contribute to departmental planning
* Uphold high expectations of behaviour and achievement
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
* A degree in Geography or a related subject
* Experience teaching Geography at secondary level (including ECTs welcome to apply)
* Strong classroom management skills and a passion for teaching
* A commitment to raising standards and improving outcomes for all students
