We have an opportunity for a Cardiac Physiologist to join our team of staff. This bank role works on an as‑and‑when‑required basis, supplementing staffing levels during busy periods and providing cover for existing staff during annual leave or absence. The role supports the growing Cardiology services within the hospital.
Responsibilities
* Perform and interpret a wide range of non‑invasive cardiac investigations including resting ECGs, Holter monitoring, event recorders, and blood pressure monitoring.
* Carry out and report on exercise tolerance tests (ETTs), tilt table testing, and other functional assessments.
* Undertake and interpret echocardiograms (transthoracic, transoesophageal, and stress echo, if appropriately trained).
* Assist in cardiac catheterisation procedures, including angiograms, angioplasties, and right‑heart studies.
* Monitor and record intra‑cardiac pressures and waveforms during diagnostic and interventional procedures.
* Provide technical support during pacemaker, ICD, and CRT implantations.
* Conduct pacemaker, ICD, and CRT device checks and follow‑ups in accordance with current guidelines.
* Analyse device data and provide expert interpretation to guide clinical decisions.
* Assist in the remote monitoring of cardiac devices.
* Accurately document all tests and results in patient records and prepare high‑quality clinical reports for referring clinicians.
* Ensure compliance with departmental and national clinical governance standards.
* Maintain, calibrate, and safely operate all cardiology equipment; report faults and participate in equipment procurement or upgrades.
* Communicate clearly and compassionately with patients, explaining procedures and ensuring informed consent.
* Provide reassurance and support to patients undergoing stressful or uncomfortable tests.
* Participate in the supervision and training of junior staff, students, and trainees, and engage in continued professional development.
* Contribute to audits, research projects, and service development initiatives within the cardiology department and support the implementation of new technologies and evidence‑based practices.
Person Specification
Experience
* Current knowledge of a range of clinical specialties and developments in clinical practice.
* Experience of customer care, including interacting with customers in challenging situations.
* Private sector experience.
Qualifications
* A degree in Clinical Physiology or equivalent / ONC / BTEC in physiological measurement and medical physics.
* Device or Echocardiography accreditation (BHRS/BHRE/BSE).
