As Impact and Knowledge Exchange Officer, you will play a pivotal role in the Centre team, providing expert input to turn the Centre's research into impact within policy, professional practice, and public engagement. You will help raise the profile of the Centre's work, develop relationships, and collaborate with partners and communities to advance social change through research. Additionally, you will support the team in impact capacity and capability, drive key aspects of the Centre's impact agenda, and manage projects including Demonstration Projects and evidence-based Continuous Professional Development for practitioners. You will also plan and deliver impact and knowledge exchange events.
You will report to the Centre Manager (York) and work closely with the Communications & Engagement Officer (Leeds), the Centre Coordinator (York), and the Centre's academic leadership and research staff (York/Leeds).
Minimum Qualifications and Experience
1. Level 3 qualification or equivalent professional experience, including A levels or similar qualifications.
2. Experience in delivering impact and knowledge exchange work within a university, charity, advocacy, policy/public sector, or similar organization.
3. Proven ability to translate and apply research evidence into practical guidance, tools, or designs to effect change.
4. Experience in managing projects and delivering events collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
About the Centre
The ESRC Vulnerability & Policing Futures Research Centre, established in May 2022 with £10 million funding until April 2027, is a large and complex research entity with over 40 projects. It is jointly led by the University of York and the University of Leeds, comprising a team of 26 academics, 4 professional support staff, 11 postdoctoral researchers, and 4 PGRs, along with 38 project partners including police forces, NGOs, and government departments.
The Centre focuses on issues such as modern slavery, County Lines, mental health, and child sexual exploitation, working at regional, national, and international levels to conduct groundbreaking research and knowledge exchange.
