Job Title: Children’s Support worker/Personal Assistant
Hours per week: 12 hours per month (dates & times to be discussed and mutually agreed with employer) Weekend working will be required.

Rate of pay: £14.80 per hour
About me:
The purpose of this role is to provide support for a 13-year-old boy who is very likeable, loving and really enjoys his time at school. Experience of working with children or adults with SEN is essential. Working at the weekend and school holidays will be required. He has great interest in numbers, singing, trains, activities on the iPad and swimming. He has a learning disability which impacts on his understanding, and he has limited verbal communication skills.
He has complex needs that impacts on his emotional and behavioural development. The PA will need to support this young person to help develop his life skills.
Due to the nature of this role, applicants must have access to a car with appropriate business insurance cover and full clean driving license is essential. Class 1 business use must be included in your policy document.
Task and duties, to include any or all the following:
- To provide support and build up a trusting relationship and to give the parents a little free time to spend with their other child.
- Experience of working with children or adults with SEN is essential.
- Working at the weekend and school holidays will be required.
- To take part in social activities and be open to trying new things.
- To improve this young person’s social and life skills, and promote independent living skills.
- To promote a healthy lifestyle and to encourage physical activity.
- To encourage an understanding of the rules around personal space.
- This young person has no sense of stranger danger or traffic awareness and must be always supervised.
- When accessing new activities in the community, please ensure that positive reassurance is given and please explain what is going to be happening to prevent any unnecessary worry or anxiety.
- Positive self-esteem and self confidence should be promoted whilst undertaking any activities.
- This young person can bite himself on his hands if he becomes frustrated and occasionally will take out his frustration on others. Crying and angry raised voices can also trigger a meltdown.
- Any other duties not mentioned but that fall within the scope of this role should be discussed and then mutually agreed.
- Undertake any further training, as mutually agreed.
