About The Role
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Headteacher to lead our Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) in North Powys. The PRU provides educational provision for pupils aged 5-16 who are permanently excluded or at risk of exclusion from their mainstream school, as well as other pupils for whom the local authority has a statutory responsibility. The core offer includes short-term placements with the aim of successful reintegration into mainstream settings and achieving accreditation to support pupils into the next stage of their education, employment, or training.
Location: The Pathways Centre, Newtown
Salary: £60,203 - £84,925 per annum
Contract Type: Permanent, 32.5 hours per week
Key Responsibilities
* Provide strategic leadership and management of the PRU.
* Work with the Management Committee to develop and implement policies and strategic direction.
* Lead partnership working with local schools and other service users.
* Ensure high standards of teaching, learning, and pupil achievement.
* Manage and deploy staff effectively, ensuring continuous professional development.
* Oversee pupil wellbeing, behaviour, and attendance.
* Maintain effective links with parents, carers, and other stakeholders.
* Attending Local Authority panels to provide specialist input.
* Responsibility for arranging outreach and training to schools.
About You
* Recent, successful experience and knowledge of teaching pupils with a wide range of additional learning needs, including significant social and emotional difficulties.
* Proven track record of successful school leadership.
* Experience in performance management and enhancing the professional development of staff.
* Excellent communication, organisational, and leadership skills.
* Commitment to social inclusion and the principles of equal opportunities.
Qualifications
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
* NPQH or equivalent management qualification (or in the process of gaining qualification).
* Relevant in-service training.
