Who You Are We are seeking an experienced Rent Officer with a strong understanding of Universal Credit and Housing Benefit. You should be self-motivated, organised, and comfortable working independently. The ideal candidate will engage proactively with former tenants to manage and reduce rent arrears effectively. What the Job Involves The Housing Rent Officer will be responsible for managing former tenant rent arrears, negotiating repayment arrangements, and reviewing benefit entitlement. You will be responsible for maintaining accurate records, monitoring account activity, and demonstrating actions taken to recover arrears in line with Maidstone Borough Council's procedures. You will report to the Housing Finance Lead and provide regular updates on performance and progress. Skills Experience in rent arrears recovery within a housing environment Good working knowledge of Universal Credit and Housing Benefit Strong negotiation and communication skills Ability to manage a varied workload independently and prioritise effectively Experience maintaining accurate records and producing performance information Customer-focused approach with the ability to handle sensitive conversations professionally
