Specialist Doctor, Child & Adult Psychiatry CAMHS High Intensity Unit

Job Summary
Our inpatient CAMHS is expanding to include a brand‑new 8‑bed High Intensity Environment/PICU opening in 2026. We are looking for a Specialist Doctor to join our dynamic team in Bournemouth. The role will involve working either in Pebble Lodge (General Adolescent Unit) or the High Intensity Environment.
We offer a recruitment and retention payment of £10,000 paid in monthly instalments for the first year, a relocation package of up to £10,000, flexible working, career development opportunities and NHS benefits.
Main duties
* Assessment and treatment planning for patients with complex presentations.
* Direct face‑to‑face time, meetings with families and community staff.
* Review of records, clinical report writing and tribunal work.
* Daily meetings with ward staff and CPA, discharge planning meetings.
* Work under the supervision of Consultant psychiatrists/Consultant Nurse AC.
* Maintain Section 12(2) and be an Approved Clinician.
Qualifications and Experience
* General medical qualification (MBBS or equivalent) and licence to practise.
* Minimum 12 years of clinical working experience after basic qualification; 4 years full‑time postgraduate training (or equivalent). At least two years in a specialty training programme in Psychiatry or as a fixed‑term trainee.
* At least 2 years of working experience in Community CAMHS at specialist doctor level (desirable).
* Section 12/AC approval preferred, or commitment to obtain within the first year.
Clinical, Leadership and Organisational Skills
* Competence in diagnosis, risk assessment, care planning and prescribing.
* Clinical leadership for a multi‑disciplinary team.
* Ability to prioritise work to meet competing clinical demands.
* Strong organisational skills and ability to manage own workload.
* Understanding of clinical governance, audit, outcome measures, CPD and revalidation.
* Effective multi‑disciplinary team working and liaison with colleagues.
* Self‑awareness of strengths and weaknesses and stress management.
