We’re looking for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join our Newcastle team and play a pivotal role in shaping the future of building design.
You’ll partner closely with our Building Surveying department, blending hands-on inspections with innovative design solutions across the north of England. From healthcare to education, your expertise will drive projects that matter—nationally and locally—with a powerful focus on cutting-edge decarbonisation efforts.

Within this role you will be responsible for:
o Design and specification of projects across various sectors.
o Delivering M&E services; normal duties design, preparation of performance specs, site inspections of works in progress, site surveys/condition reports etc.
o Preparing mechanical services designs and associated drawings for projects to be designed and delivered in-house
o Preparing design calculations including those relating to ‘Energy Efficiency’ and building integration
o Supporting the local MEP Lead in preparing fee proposals and sub-consultant appointment documents, tracking projects from inception to completion
o Work collaboratively with MEP service teams in the North to ensure seamless integration of MEP Systems.
o Reviewing MEP Mechanical design outputs to ensure assured service delivery.
o Provide technical support to other service team members in other regions as required.
o Inspecting construction activities and troubleshooting issues that arise during the project lifecycle.
o Site inspections of work in progress.
o Project progress and client facing meetings.

* Who we’re looking for:
Experience, Knowledge and Key Skills
o Ambitious and passionate about the built environment.
o Broad design experience but particularly in decarbonisation schemes.
o Lifecycle analysis, condition surveys and reporting.
o Previous experience within a consultancy or similar environment.
o Degree educated in Building Services Engineering, Architectural Engineering or similar.
o MS Office suite, software design packages such as MEPworx, or IES and AutoCAD
o Ability to work as part of a team.
o Clear and effective written and oral communication skills.Hold or be working towards professional membership with CIBSE.
