Job Summary: Role Overview The Professional Services Engineering Manager leads a team of Professional Services Engineers in the UK, ensuring high-quality, efficient and profitable delivery of technical projects and client onboarding. This role bridges technical leadership and operational management, serving as both an administrative support to the Director of Professional Services Engineering and the technical backstop for the engineering team. The Manager is responsible for mentoring engineers, driving process improvements and maintaining technical standards across all projects and onboardings. Key Responsibilities Oversee day-to-day operations, including resource allocation, workload distribution and performance monitoring. Proactively identify and resolve resource contention issues, ensuring timely delivery of projects and onboardings. Ensure efficient delivery of client onboarding and billable tasks by technical teams. Foster a culture of high standards, continuous improvement and technical excellence. Serve as the final technical escalation point for the engineering team and clients. Provide technical coaching, mentoring and guidance to engineers. Maintain and contribute technical documentation, ensuring consistency and completeness. Act as technical SME for scoping new opportunities and projects. Identify and resolve conflicting priorities and avoidable issues. Implement and continuously improve technical standards, processes and documentation. Drive delivery efficiencies in onboarding and project execution, leveraging automation and best practices. Identify technical tools to improve quality and reduce project risk. Track and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) such as hours logged, chargeable work, ticket closure rates and client feedback scores. Ensure accurate data management and reporting for the engineering team. Collaborate with external and internal teams to optimize onboarding and project delivery. Required Skills & Experience Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in technical implementation, troubleshooting and project management within IT infrastructure and cloud environments (Azure preferred). At least 2 years of proven leadership experience managing and mentoring technical teams in a professional services or MSP environment. Strong leadership and mentoring abilities, with a track record of developing high-performing engineering teams. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in project teams. Excellent problem-solving skills, with a logical approach to root cause analysis and risk mitigation. Demonstrated experience with configuration and deployment of Microsoft products, Windows Servers, networking (firewalls, switches, TCP/IP) and cloud services. Familiarity with remote access/delivery platforms (RemoteApp, AVD, XenDesktop) and multi-tenant environments. Relevant certifications (Azure Expert, MCSE, VCP, CCP) are highly desirable.
